PFLAG Mother's Day to Father's Day Advocacy Kicks Off with Congressional Visits

WASHINGTON, April 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Tomorrow morning members of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays
(PFLAG) will converge on Capitol Hill to personally deliver PFLAG's message of inclusion and respect to their legislators. In this effort, titled Bringing the Message Home, mothers and fathers of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) children will visit their representatives -- in Washington and their local districts -- to educate and advocate for a variety of legislation that affects their loved ones.

This year, they will specifically focus on the anti-gay marriage amendment to the Constitution, judicial nominations, Local Law Enforce Enhancement Act, Employment Non-Discrimination Act, Permanent Partners Immigration Act and Domestic Partner Benefits and Obligations Act. In addition to vigorously campaigning on these issues, the parents will share photos of their GLBT loved ones to put a human face on a community that is often the subject of public discussion.

PFLAG moms and dads have scheduled Washington visits with Senators Akaka, Boxer, Conrad, Daschle, Dodd, Dole, Durgon, Edwards, Ensign, Feinstein, Gregg, Inouye, Kennedy, Leahy, Reid, and Sununu and with Representative Pomeroy. Legislative visits are also scheduled across the country with Congressional district offices and local legislators.
