It’s 2022 and after a brutal pandemic we are ready to party again in the streets of Oak Lawn. Many announcements have been made lately such as the Halloween block party being October 22 and now a second pride will be held in Oak Lawn known as Pride in Dallas. The best part it will be in September when we should celebrate it as it has more meaning for Texas LGBTQ+ and the drag queens will thank you for the cooler weather.
You heard it right this will be a second pride in 2023!
The Dallas Tavern Guild (which this event is not) moved the Dallas Pride to September originally to commemorate the timing of a court ruling striking down Texasβ anti-sodomy law. The Supreme Court finally ruled Texas’ anti-sodomy unconstitutional in 2003. Here we are in 2022 and all of our rights are once again being looked at by the Supreme Court such as gay rights in October.
The organization putting on the event claims they will have it on September 18, 2022 around 2pm at Cedar Springs and Oaklawn Ave in Dallas.
“Pride in Dallas will be hosting a week-long celebration of love with various events beginning on Monday, September 12, throughout Cedar Springs and Oaklawn. This yearβs celebration will be a scaled-back version of what we hope to create in 2023.
A GoFundMe has been established to raise money from community members and allies who are eager to participate in Pride events in the heart of the Gayborhood. Your donation will be used to cover permitting and event expenditures such as fencing, sanitation, security, and entertainment.”
People are already commenting about it on Facebook groups:
“Pride on the strip will be our official parade, the other one is just a propagandist, capitalist festival with no true significance behind it.”

This isn’t the first time another group tried to organize pride in Dallas the Queerbomb hosted an event in Deep Ellum that was tons of fun and served the purpose of a protest.
