So here’s the deal: you have two websites dedicated to older guys, daddies and bears and you want to know which one to join. I’ll help you out by taking a look at each and then giving you some comparisons so you can make up your mind:
Daddy Hunt
Is our first port of call DaddyHunt.com tells us that it has 178,000 members worldwide with 1,150 online when I looked at the tour. Sign up was free so it won’t cost you anything to fix up a profile and get hunting. The About page tells us that the site is not only for daddies but for their admires too, so that will cover just about anyone, and it calls itself a community. The Features page, where I hoped to get a little more detail, only directed me to the free join page so I went and signed in. There were four pages to the registration process but it didn’t take too long to get through, but you do have to fill out every category to continue through the system; and the more you put in the more you will get out.
Once inside you can modify and add to your profile and upload images. Then it’s time to start that all important search. I was a ‘hunter’ as opposed to being a daddy so hunted out guys in the community who lived in the same area as me. There were plenty. Most had a picture of some sort but the private pictures were hidden – you have to ask the member to see his member! So a standard search facility that was easy to use, led to a good array of guys to contact. You have a message service, you can send text or a ‘grope’, you can read his profile and even block anyone who gets on your nerves. There is also a blog to read and I didn't see anything about having to actually part with money until I came to use the advanced search options. Then I was asked to become a ‘supporter.’ There is a long list of pricing options. For the full benefits of the site you can start at $15.00 per month (recurring, it’s $25.00 for a one-off monthly payment) or go up to $50.00 per three months (which is cheaper).
Bear 411
So let’s see what bear411.com has and then you can compare the two. The design of the site was brighter, white, with lots of little adverts and pieces of information around the pages. But there was also the same free registration and the number of members (139,091). The registration process was simpler than the previous site, though I did have to upload an image to continue. And then I had to wait 24 to 48 hours while my profile was checked, so you can’t leap straight into this site. You can, though, see who is online and look at the guys’ profiles. I wasn’t able to use the search engine until my profile had been accepted. I guess that means that they only want genuine bear lovers and bears to sign up, they want to filter out spam and people who are simply messing around, and that’s a good thing. The guys all had a photo of some sort and many were facials.
The site also had links to listing of bear clubs and events and a link to a pay to join website, bear orientated of course. Likewise there was a link to a bear pay per view theatre.
So, what’s the bottom line? Well, I came away feeling that Bear 411 was more amateur, in looks and in features, but probably more secure. You will have to wait to get right into the site and that may not suit anyone in a hurry to find bears. Daddy Hunt had a slicker and quicker approach to it and looked much more like your classic hook up and dating site. I couldn't find pricing information for Bear 411, I guess it’s inside once you get your free profile registered.
And, at the end of the day, I couldn't really decide between the two. Join both I say and double your chances of meeting Mr Bear-Right, or of finding Master Looking-For-Bear.
